The density without the extreme height is amazing and I love how you can see some rooftop areas being utilized(I am sure having such a great climate helps), but I wish more cities had activated rooftop areas.

I HATE the second tallest building in Perth-Brookfield Place(the shiny twin looking thing with the top cut off in this photo left of center). Horrible looking building that kind of ruins Perth's skyline for me.

But...but...where am I going to park my SUV? Where is the Walmart?  😉

Isn't Dhaka the most densely populated city?

And great pics from both you and ColDayMan

^Dhaka is up there but the densest (major) city in the world is Manila at 119,000ish per square mile.  For reference, Manhattan is 71,000ish per square mile.

NYC as a whole is about 27,000, and SF is second at 17,000, IIRC.

and likely over 30k in reality. and yes manila as a whole is is tops in density in the world at 41-42k.

but cities are so disparate, both intra and inter, that it makes for a terrible way to measure density.

neighborhoods, being fairly uniform in size, are much better measures (actually, sq km/miles are best, but anyway).

so for neighborhoods, i see dhaka has a ridiculous 3 in the top twenty, including the top two.

1. dhaka -- lalbagh thana

2. dhaka -- chowk bazaar

3. macau - zaveri bazar

4. macau --  st. anthony parish

5. surat -- karanj

for comparison, yorkville in nyc is down the list at #17.

however, unlike the rest of those outright ghettos its a very affluent crowdy.

The impact of vertical sprawl should also be considered and I am not sure how it is going to manifest itself.

Especially when I would bet at least half the "residents" of places like 432 Park officially live elsewhere for tax reasons.

^ yes it should because the impact of vertical sprawl is much better for the environment and business than suburban sprawl.

as for the rootless rich with their multiple homes, it's not unsimilar to jailbirds, summer homes, military personnel or kids away at college.

Randomly came across this housing development in Turkey, Burj Al Babas. From what I have read it's largely abandoned.

^ lol -- i had heard of this place, but wow what a crazy view.

here is something recent i found about it:

Crazy. How about homes for Syrian refugees over a 10 euro tourist trap, but i digress. That Meduza video linked on the article is actually how I stumbled across it haha.

with the seattle chop zone and the dc bhaz in the news -- let's not forget the urbanest, most wild west styled daddy of them all --

the former kowloon walled city in hong kong ---

you can easily see how the end of it's day is creeping near in this 1989 pic:
