Political Harassment & Violence

free speech is constitutionally protected. These kids comprised a mob that attempted to stamp out that speech, plain and simple.

The students' free speech is also protected. That's kinda how it works. No one is guaranteed a platform.

Good thing there was no mob violence then.

In the eyes of cultists like @eastvillagedon, only one group should get their speech protected. It's amazing how quick he and other party members were so willingly able to throwout the "snowflake" label, yet can't take it when speech is thrown back at them.

Meanwhile, his side has actually undertaken real violence:

^ His side doesn't care about press freedom either which is conveniently located in the amendment as free speech. There was no freak out by Trump Davidians when Pompeo wouldn't permit NPR on his oversees trip or when they call the press enemies of the people. Their selective outrage is saved for college students shouting down fascists and white nationalists.

Spot on, for all their talk about "freedom," we know they only mean it for select individuals—not all men and women.

The right wing grift is so predictable.

1) Go to college campuses with the sole intention of provoking and riling up students (Milo used to do this, among others).

2) Claim students yelling at you are stifling your free speech.  Sometimes, you can even throw in "mob" and "riot" for fun since your audience is dumb.

3) Claim your first amendment rights were violated.

4) Go around the typical right wing hack shows and play victim.

5) Profit.

It's a very basic model and one that many have used.  Not surprised to see the usual right wing rubes falling for it again.

The only thing this time around is that Kaitlin Bennett isn't very good at it.  And since she turned herself into a 2A meme at graduation, she can't really get a job doing anything.  She's probably hoping Breitbart or The Federalist will bankroll her for a few more "college victimization tours."

Joel Patrick must have been one of the "white supremacists" in the pickup truck (trying to get through the crowd of Nazi goons trying to drive her from campus).

You're a real piece of work. They drove into the crowd on purpose. They didn't need to do that to get away from campus. They purposely invited confrontation and they did it in an 8,000 lb truck driving through a crowd of people. The whole point was to get their one-sided, edited video so they could get their 15 minutes of fame.

I love the way the the kids in the first video proudly called OU the "most liberal campus in Ohio" or some such thing. They don't even understand the meaning of the word. Real liberalism is open to free speech and willing to hear different ideas, even if objectionable. If this gang of fascist thugs is representative of what goes on at colleges today, then higher education is essentially finished. Surely OU must have some conservatives, but they're probably cowering in fear for their lives at this point!

OU is a very left-leaning campus but there is an active College Republican group and they host speakers all the time. They even have joint events with the College Dems to debate issues. These events are well-attended and civil, because people are there to debate ideas and exchange information. That's not what Kaitlin does. She purposely tries to provoke people and then plays the victim.

Her personal safety was not at risk. No one assaulted her. Someone threw water on her, the horror! I'm surprised she didn't melt. But luckily the OU police did a fantastic job of protecting everyone in a volatile situation which SHE PURPOSELY CREATED. I couldn't be more proud to be a Bobcat today.

Also, the Libertarian Party disagrees with your assessment of things:

There was a black guy there.  They can't be racists.

I lol'd at that, tbh.  I mean, EVD strikes me as never having opened a history book, because there have literally always been minorities that supported the regimes that harmed them.  There were Jewish Nazi sympathizers, for god's sake, but we're supposed to be impressed a black guy supports Trump.  There are dumb people in all demographics.

If throwing water is mob violence, what did you call it when Trump encouraged supporters at his rallies to punch protesters?  Oh right, you looked the other way because you have no integrity.

An update on the gun girl story from the OU message board, from an apparent eye witness who was taking his daughter on a college visit that day.

The gentleman said that Kaitlin was going around asking people super confrontational questions in front of Baker Center. She asked a black student, “Do you ever thank white people for the fact that you aren’t a slave?” and an effeminate looking group of guys "why do you think queers should have special rights?" among other things. She was not getting the angry reactions she was looking for from the people when she shoved her microphone in their faces, but eventually several students started to crowd around to confront her for this harassment and that's when the crowd started to grow and the situation escalated. The gentleman said the students were sticking up for their classmates and she was doing her best to escalate the situation so she could get her video footage. This came from a person who self-identifies as a supporter of gun rights. He also said his daughter has chosen to attend OU, for what it is worth.

Now, this is an honest question, and I really hope you'll come back to answer. @eastvillagedon does this account change your opinion in any way? Do you still think OU students are evil? Do you think maybe your own biases caused you to misevaluate the situation? I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

Nah, she is just looking for a way to make videos that make her look like a victim.  Then she knows whoever starts to follow her is a total rube and therefore a good target for her grift.

These are the new conservative "thinkers." The conservative movement has turned itself into a cult of perceived victimhood and lib owning.

‘This is absolutely abhorrent’: Nazi flag at Sanders rally sparks outcry, concerns about safety

By Allyson Chiu

Moments after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) took the stage at his campaign rally in Phoenix on Thursday night, the crowd was on its feet cheering madly for the Democratic presidential candidate.

But those cheers were swiftly replaced by deafening boos when Sanders’s supporters noticed that one man standing behind the senator in an upper section of the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum wasn’t waving a “Bernie” sign like many of those around him.

Instead, the man was holding a red flag above his head — and it was emblazoned with a swastika.

Also this,

Quote

The swastika flag was just one incident involving protesters that disrupted Thursday’s event, Westbrook told The Post. Later in the night, other people waving banners bearing President Trump’s name also got into minor scuffles with Sanders supporters and were promptly removed from the venue by uniformed officers.

Some of the words in the below article may be a little big for you, @eastvillagedon, and I'm sure you're busy thinking up thoughtful, intelligent rebuttals to all the times you've been asked questions on these boards, but you should probably read this: https://www.snopes.com/news/2017/09/05/were-nazis-socialists/

Above all, the Nazis were German white nationalists. What they stood for was the ascendancy of the “Aryan” race and the German nation, by any means necessary. Despite co-opting the name, some of the rhetoric, and even some of the precepts of socialism, Hitler and party did so with utter cynicism, and with vastly different goals. The claim that the Nazis actually were leftists or socialists in any generally accepted sense of those terms flies in the face of historical reality.

This is an incredible display of showing a lack of understanding of history.  You...you do know Sanders is Jewish, right?
