Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info

Frank isn't going to do anything at all. When Lakewood already passed ordinances for outside seating, you already know Cleveland isn't going to do it. Frank is no where to be found. Young leadership is needed badly in this city. I wish Kerry McCormack would run.

Ordinance was already submitted. Try to keep up.

There is still no resumption of work on BJ’s Brewhouse in Orange across from Pinecrest. I wonder if they’ll ever complete it

After I found out they get cooked food in bulk and reheat it in microwaves vs actually making from scratch or even grilling things like chicken... i lost interest in them ever completing.

Assuming that that is true, what do expect from a place with a name like "BJ's Brewhouse"? It certainly doesn't sound like a place with decent food. At best, maybe okay burgers.

I'm a little surprised by that.  The one time I've been to a BJ's Brewhouse, I was pleasantly surprised by the food, which was all quite good.  The beer was bland, though, and the selection of beer styles was straight from a 90's brewpub.

^I've never heard of them---but googling them now I see its a giant chain--so that alone should temper food quality expectations. But, at the very least, I'd expect to the beer to be good!

They're the TGI Friday's of pubs. I've been a few times on work lunch outings, nothing special, but consistent and passable.

i have been missing chinatown and all the various asian foods lately, so i could not help but notice this nice, quick rundown of cleveland asiatown restaurants.

it looks like they have various dining oprtions now due to corona, but all are open.

i used to like siam and li wah, glad to see them still going on the list with the others:

15 great dining choices in Cleveland’s AsiaTown

Updated 6:56 AM; Today 6:48 AM

By Joey Morona, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- I love to eat. So, as someone who grew up on Asian food, the year I lived in AsiaTown was one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. I spent the time eating my way through the neighborhood, sampling the most diverse and authentic selection of Asian cuisine in the city.

The shutdown hit the area particularly hard, but all of the restaurants in AsiaTown are open once again in some form or another. The question is, what are you waiting for?

Good news for Flats East Bank: Punch Bowl Social to Reopen on July 13

(Just in time for the next state shut down, ha. I kid.)

https://m.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2020/06/26/punch-bowl-social-to-reopen-flats-location-on-july-13

For weeks, the future of Punch Bowl Social(1086 W. 11th St., 216-239-1508) on the East Bank of the Flats has been in limbo as reports surfaced about parent company Cracker Barrel announcing that it was withdrawing financial support from the growing "eatertainment" venture. Those issues, of course, were heaped upon an already uncertain future thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the Cleveland (and the other 15) stores to close and layoff 100s of employees.

Now we can report that the Cleveland location will reopen along with four other locations. Ours will reopen the doors on Monday, July 13.

I certainly am not signing up for “Exclusive Content” on cle dot com, but I suspect the headline says it all.

its such a shame sawyer fell apart like he did. i wish it could be said that situation was unusual, but it wasnt. lots of big chefs come out from behind the kitchen, become chef owners and flame out on the business end.

oh well, he snared a great gig, and if he wants to at least he can go chat up homie rick bayless out there for how to run a business tips.

Does anyone know why Old Angle is (still) boarded up?

I was wondering that same thing. Were there any broken windows in OC. Is the Old Angle open?

Heck's had a single broken window and that was the most I'd heard of it.

E4th’s new Roman Café (new concept from Citizen Pie plus a collab with Six Shooter coffee) is coming along!

I’m super excited for this place to open.

Citizen Pie is my favorite pizza in Cleveland, so I'm also very excited.  I'm also happy to see businesses continuing to push forward with downtown plans despite COVID.

Is Citizen Pie in the space where a coffee shop used to be?

Yep! It used to be Erie Island. But Six Shooter coffee will be part of the new space as well, so there will still be (an even better) coffee option here.
