Weird Real Estate Listings

Does this include weird homes, or does the listings just have to be weird? Cleveland agents REALLY LIKE to capitalize random words for EMPHASIS and are always fun to look at.

 

As for weird houses, this one is one of my all-time favorites (I'm downloading all the photos this time before they take the listing down again) :

I don't see it.  It looks normal to me?

 

Damn, they fixed it.  Somehow the agent managed to upload a random photo of his kid's basketball team onto the listing.  It was hilarious!  Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, kitchen, baseketball team.

^Those photos look like they were shot with a circa-2003 digital camera. 

 

It always amazes me when people try to sell houses worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars without paying someone with a decent camera and an eye to take photos. It puts you out a couple hundred bucks at the most. For example, here's a listing in North Avondale just shy of $900,000 and the photos look like they were taken with somebody's flip phone:

Agree 100% here.  When we sold our former home last year, part of the reason we chose the realtor we used is because her pictures in here listings looked professional.  As it turned out, she actually uses a photographer to take the photos for her listings, and the photos in our listing looking amazing that they included.

^It's not just the image quality, it's what they take pictures of.  Some of these people not only can't hold a camera straight, they seemingly have no concept of how to depict a house.  Take one picture of each interior room, a picture of the front, a picture of the back, and a picture of the basement if it's not cluttered.  Take a picture of the furnace if it's less than three years old. 

 

It's not that hard!

Also, in the past few years, many people have been over-photoshopping the exterior window views.  When you make it look like how you think it looks instead of how it actually looks, it ends up looking really fake.

I always love the 1-pic listings.  What are they hiding from us?  But this one is choice because the single exterior picture lets us see everything we need to know about this cheap house...it has a VERY active freight railroad in its front yard:

More than likely it's banked owned and could even be occupied, thus reason no one has taken interior pics.

^Ugly on the outside (I hate mansard roofs), but cool on the inside if you strip away the awful 90's interior "updates". The bones (kitchen cabinets, stair railings, fireplace, brick wall) look cool and untouched except for paint. Is this a Jewish neighborhood? I'm only curious because most of the good 60's and 70's mid mod stuff in NE Ohio is.

There's nothing wrong with optimism, as long as you don't get your hopes up.

Yeah, it's amazing how emotional and usually how quick and fleeting a home purchase is considering the fact that it is "our biggest investment". 

 

I have seen articles elsewhere that note how HDTV has motivated basically the entire country to renovate their homes in the exact same way in preparation for their sale.  I get emails with new listings from bad neighborhoods in Los Angeles, and it's amazing to see how all of those 1940s small 2-bed 1-bath homes that nobody cared about until the entire rest of LA got ridiculous in the 2010s are all being renovated the exact same way by flippers has similar houses in Ohio.

^As a bonus, the doors hit the banister. 

 

Reminds me of the house I grew up in...the door from the garage opened into a hallway immediately opposite the basement door, and they hit one another all the time.

Ha! I too have experienced enemy doors growing up. So annoying. I feel for the wealthy types in big houses, who have never had to deal with doorknob entanglement.
