Terrorism / Mass Shootings

Recommended Posts

Attorney General William P. Barr has issued the following statement:

Quote

“With the rioting that is occurring in many of our cities around the country, the voices of peaceful and legitimate protests have been hijacked by violent radical elements.  Groups of outside radicals and agitators are exploiting the situation to pursue their own separate, violent, and extremist agenda.

It is time to stop watching the violence and to confront and stop it.  The continued violence and destruction of property endangers the lives and livelihoods of others, and interferes with the rights of peaceful protestors, as well as all other citizens.

It also undercuts the urgent work that needs to be done – through constructive engagement between affected communities and law enforcement leaders – to address legitimate grievances.  Preventing reconciliation and driving us apart is the goal of these radical groups, and we cannot let them succeed.

It is the responsibility of state and local leaders to ensure that adequate law enforcement resources, including the National Guard where necessary, are deployed on the streets to reestablish law and order.  We saw this finally happen in Minneapolis last night, and it worked.

Federal law enforcement actions will be directed at apprehending and charging the violent radical agitators who have hijacked peaceful protest and are engaged in violations of federal law.

To identify criminal organizers and instigators, and to coordinate federal resources with our state and local partners, federal law enforcement is using our existing network of 56 regional FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF).

The violence instigated and carried out by Antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.”

The emphasis is mine - that seems to be the key logistical change. The FBI JTTF will be investigating those behind the recent iots, which are clearly organized on a national scale.

Can someone tell me who the leader of Antifa is? How many people have they killed?

I do know that alt-right has killed at least one person.

More news regarding the recently designated terror group Antifa:

Antifa arrests coming, concerns over riots heading to suburbia, government source says

Agitators behind the rioting that has paralyzed the country over the past week want to move into more suburban areas, a government intelligence source has told Fox News.

Much of the worry stems from the notion that many in well-armed, suburban, and rural neighborhoods won't hesitate to exercise their Second Amendment rights and elevated anxieties could lead to heavy confrontation.

"Antifa knows this," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "Local and state authorities have to get a grip on this because if it moves to the suburbs, more people will die."

^ LOL. Talk about burying the lede.

Twitter said Tuesday that it had suspended the account of a white supremacist group for spreading discord and disinformation across the social media platform, using the "Antifa_US" umbrella and threatening to go into the "white hoods."

Antifa isn't legally designated as a terrorist group and there's a dispute among the legal community if they can be.  Legally, the KKK isn't designated as a terrorist group either.

Per our admins distinction, this is knowingly posting misinformation.

Anyway, I'm starting to think Antifa isn't even real outside of some cosplaying hippies in Portland.

So far, haven't seen rioting in the suburbs anywhere.  Misinformation or purposeful propaganda?

When can we expect the mass arrests of Antifa?

There have been significant protests in the suburbs but they have luckily been peaceful so far. In Cincinnati, I've seen them in places like West Chester, Montgomery, even Lebanon. It seems that the authorities being prepared for them has helped to keep them relatively peaceful. Cudos to the feds for bringing this to attention.

The vast majority of the national guardsmen deployed are in major cities and urban areas.

There was a terrorist attack yesterday in Seattle.

Driving a car into a crowd of protestors....seems to be the way far right terrorists do business?

The videos and the headlines present different versions of events. It looks to me like the driver is being careful not to hit anyone. If he had wanted to run people over, he could have and would have just done it - instead he delicately navigated around people. The shooting occurred when someone reached into the car and punched the driver in the face (the man who was shot actually admits this in other videos). Even in a liberal location, that's likely self defense. It wouldn't even be a question in Ohio.

This reminds me of an "incident" in Cincinnati last week where a car made a wrong turn, ended up on a street that was being blocked by protestors, got pelted by thrown objects, and quickly backed up and left. Protestors tried to push the same narrative - that the driver tried to run them over. The video evidence quickly killed that narrative, but not after a few people (a mayoral candidate among them) made fools of themselves by making wildly inaccurate claims.

Also, here's a close-up of the driver/shooter - at least he has good trigger discipline!

Yeah, slowly driving up to and bumping into a barricade is a pretty weak terrorist attack.  This seems like he got lost, then protestors attacked him and he defended himself.

Reported very differently here - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/09/protests-us-america-cars-weapons

Quote

On Sunday, in Seattle, a man drove at speed towards protesters, while several protesters tried to slow or stop the vehicle.

One who reached through the car window was shot in the arm by the driver. The driver then exited the vehicle carrying a handgun, which appeared in photographs to have a modified, extra-long magazine. He moved into the crowd, and later surrendered to police.

And others:

Quote

In Lakeside, Virginia, an armed man named Harry “Skip” Rogers, was arrested on charges of assault and battery after he allegedly drove his truck at protesters, hitting a cyclist.

Rogers, reportedly an organizer for the National Association for Awakening Confederate Patriots, carried out a one-man protest in 2016 wearing Ku Klux Klan robes, and was also part of the Unite the Right demonstration in Charlottesville in 2017, where protestor Heather Heyer was murdered in a vehicular homicide.

Two days days after Unite the Right, according to photographs and accounts of activists, Rogers was bloodied in an altercation that took place when he attempted to disrupt a memorial rally for Heyer, while wearing a shirt with KKK and Confederate flag patches.

Other vehicular attacks have also occurred, among other places, on 29 May in Bakersfield, California and day before in Denver. On 30 May an armed man pulled a gun before driving through a crowd in Gainesville, Florida.

In Minneapolis, a man in a semi-trailer truck parted the crowd on an overpass when he drove towards them.

In McAllen, Texas, last Friday, a lone man threatened Black Lives Matter protesters with a running chainsaw, first screaming “go home” before shouting racial slurs.

In Upland, California, on 1 June, a man pulled an AR-15 from his truck and brandished it at protesters, and was subsequently arrested.

In Chicago on 31 May, a lone man armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a sidearm pistol was led away from the scene of a protest by police. Earlier, protesters say, he had brandished the weapon at them.

In Boise, Idaho, on 1 June, two armed men disguised with skull masks similar to those favored by some neo-Nazi groups counter-protested a local Black Lives Matter march. One, Michael Wallace, 19, was later arrested after what police were investigating as an accidental discharge of his weapon.

In Salt Lake City on 31 May, a man was arrested after threatening a crowd of protesters with a hunting bow.

I wasn't going off of the reporting.  I watched the video in the article you posted.  Interestingly enough, the video that shows the man in the car being attacked is gone from Twitter- the article still links to it, though.

What would the reaction be from Trump/Barr if this was Antifa? I'm waiting to hear their reaction since this is a fascist terrorist plot....
