I personally think of the Arch as a parabola of the decline of the Midwest, but alas.

I went through some really old threads:

Yes.  I went to Vegas.  Yes, I love Vegas.  Yes, I don't give a damn about your nonsense comments about how it isn't "cityish" or "it's all fake."  Kiss my black ass, I won $600 and got wasted everynight (thus, no night shots).

If somebody was talking about my dad, I would have punched him, too.

Not from UO, but I had to post it!  He was referring to the altercation that Pat DeWine had a JeanRo's Bistro.

Here's three of them, right in a row...

It seems that business casual is the standard, unless people are meeting with clients.

My clients actually prefer assless chaps, its really weird.

MyTwoSense is one of your clients?!?

Pope you need to find another "office" to work out of, instead of The Leather Stallion.  :behind:

"Nearly every problem that we have in the USA -- unaffordable health care, prison overpopulation, hyper militarization, climate change, racism, gun violence, poverty, poor education, urban sprawl and others -- cannot be positively addressed because bribery and conflicts of interest are legal under campaign finance laws which protect the uber-wealthy and the narrow self-interests who grossly benefit from our afflictions."

When you beat north carolina and illinois from the "big conferences", you might as well be beating the retarded red-headed step child in the conference. You might as well be proud about calling star jones fat.

- the pope, regarding the Big East beating other conference teams

All department stores are downsizing.  It helps with their sales per square foot numbers.  I would guess they built the other stores too big.  Also, high end department stores in Cincy have historically done poorly.  Saks is limping along with incentives from the City.  There are no other high-end department stores in the market.  To many in Cincy, Macy's is high end...JC Penny's and Sears is just right.

SSSCincy, you should try to get on with the Enquirer ... you both do an excellent job of making shit up.

One of my favorites.....If I didn't know Cincy-Rise, I might be afraid to post things!  He promised he would never yell at me!

i think this article fits here. it's time for word of the year again. you may remember last year it was 'truthiness' from the colbert report. this year 'plutoed' won out:

Pluto's revenge: 'Word of the Year' award

POSTED: 10:56 a.m. EST, January 7, 2007

Story Highlights• American Dialect Society chooses "plutoed" over "climate canary"

• "Macaca moment" another strong contender for honors

• ADS voted for "Word of the Year" and other categories at annual meeting

(CNN) -- Pluto may no longer be a planet, but it has a new claim to fame: "Plutoed" has been chosen 2006 Word of the Year by the American Dialect Society.

The society defined "to pluto" as "to demote or devalue someone or something, as happened to the former planet Pluto when the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union decided Pluto no longer met its definition of a planet...

The smell is really Bad, we've been told by staff it really bad around Herald Square.  I had a quick meeting on 44 Street and it was bad walking thru the Rock. Center area.  Its not as bad on Columbus Circle.  It appears to be coming from Jersey City.  Leave it to New Jersey, to live up to its reputation as being the only state with an official (bad) smell.

All of our NYC based HR/PR departments have issued statements to the employees, alerting them that we had to cut the fans of to all the buildings as and the NYPD has asked employees to stay inside. In Chelsea, its so bad, that our NY1 staff actually had to evacuate their building.  PATH service was cut.  Maybe I should have gone to Vegas  :|

Just what I need on a Monday..

Poor MyTwoSenses didn't know what he was getting himself into when he started the business name thread.

MayDay's following reply was the best so far....

Behind Closed Eyes - Do you want to imply that you're blind?

Contents Under Pressure - Someone needs depressants.

Eminent Domain - So, you only offer legal assistance to developers?

Imaginative Execution - Creative guillotines?

In the Presence of Others - If you're on Earth, chances are you are in the presence of others.

Project 5 - Sounds like a bad Star Search singing group - I give you 3 stars.

Pulling Out All the Stops - Too damned wordy.

Revel - Oh, those wireless people with the angsty commercials!

Skillful Maneuvers - Kinky!

(The) Comfort Zone - Aren't people supposed to always try to step out of that?

(The) Gentleman’s Quarters - A nautical-themed piano bar for "my people"?

The Monolith & the Minimalist - Sounds like artsy gay p0rn.

The Third Dimension - I'm picturing sequinned jumpsuits and 70s EW&F music.

Wow - Whoopee. Woohoo.

Shutting down the site in the middle of the day is like closing the homeless shelter in winter. Even if it's only for a short time, a bunch of people will be miserable and wandering aimlessly, waiting for it to reopen.

If MayDay is the HBIC and ColDayMan is the HNIC, is Magyar the HICK?

All the parties I've been to there have been awesome... the Roberts know how to put on a good show. And the hotel is great, the lobby is just amazing, and I don't have anything to complain about the Max&Erma's thats connected. I took my date there for homecoming, and we had a great time. The balloon artist, Bernard, is pretty funny.

exurbkid, endorsing Wilmington's convention center as a place for a 40-something couple to relive their club-hopping youth on New Year's Eve...

Heteros recently bought the house about two blocks from here, where I lost my virginity on a Thanksgiving night back when I was young and innocent. That pretty well kills my plan to install a bronze plaque designating it as a historic landmark.

That is a ton of info cramed into two sentences.  Funny stuff though.

I did exercise some restraint by not revealing the lurid details. I'll save those for after a meet sometime, over a beer or two.

For now, I'll just acknowledge that it had something to do with holiday family dynamics, as so often is the case.
