I think that thread was locked because gaslight went into a drunken rage; also, a thread dedicated to the same movie was already created.

That was the only reason why that thread was locked.  But the behavior was reprehensible.  And he got a week off because of it.

I also don't get why Universities like Bowling Green exist. I don't get why some people like going somewhere that's like cornfield->soybeanfield->university->cornfield.

Well ColDayMan hates UD and since ColDayMan > Jesus, then I'd hope that Jesus would still not follow in ColDayMan's footsteps.

This might be the funniest quote of the year. :-D

I can't believe someone, and by someone I mean a commissioner, would vote to actually demolish that building.  It's crazy and makes no sense.  What building will replace it?  I'm sure it will have the iconic statement of a Walmart . . .

Lack of precision in language contributed to the demise of the Roman Empire :[

^True. Take, for example, Constantine's order to "putrify" the water supply.

If they go out of business I don't know who they plan ot sell that commercial building to when it looks like a damn basket.

I think it has a lot to do with Austin being a big college town. Not much else.

Proving downtown Cleveland isn't dead by showing people at a particular big event is like me proving to someone an inner city grocery store isn't dead by taking them on the first of the month.

You're new here.  You missed our -tucky discussion from several months back.

Every Ohio city has a community that gets "glossed" with -tucky (Strongsville=Strongstucky near Cleveland; Groveport=Grovetucky near Columbus; Kentucky=Kentucky near Cincinnati). - Magyar.

Thanks.

Though I thought that was a fairly average remark by me.

This building not only features a first-floor diagonal doorway, but it also looks like it's been added on to three times.  That's a lot of siding!

...This commercial building grabs the passerby with an awe-inspiring window display. - grasscat

Not sure why I found these so comical, but I don't think I've laughed this hard in months. Thanks grasscat, you've made my day!

... I'm sorry...  bars right across the street from [Wrigley Field]...  it's just too radical of a concept...  let's stick with what we know works best: large swales of empty dirt...

Why are Republicans in the media so serious and boring all the time? Compare Bill O'Reily to Jon Stewart. Someone needs to start putting the fun in "fundamentalism"

"and to cost from $2.09 billion to $3.03 billion."

I love the precision..."oh, it'll cost somewhere between $2,091,223,948.75, and $3,028,934,044.39."  You know, when you leave a billion dollars worth of slack, I don't think you really need three significant digits...

When do they ever overestimate? When have they ever been like "oh hey guys, we got it done with less money than you initially gave us; here, you can have some money back". That pisses me off. They always try to make it sound cheap in the beginning.

>In our modern era, with all its pressures, contact with nature in urban settings may be more crucial than ever

Uh, barbary had a lot more pressures, like the teeth of hyenas through your butt cheeks.  Go out roll around in nature all day and let the urushiols get all up between your toes and fingers and nostrils.    -JMecklenborg

Regarding "SexyBack" - I find it disturbing that today's kids apparently don't know musical composition. I mean, do people really need to be told "Take it to the chorus" and "Take to the bridge"?

Yeah, the DAAP thing is scary.  Very scary.

It's if Eisenmann himself popped in a couple of X pills, decided to draw using pastels and cocaine strips, played with a Rubix cube, watched Clockwork Orange, and eventually churning out the Mark of the Beast at the corner of Clifton and MLK Drive. -ColDayMan

Lol...you should have seen how freaked out he was in the building. We walked past a group of older people--it looked like they were touring it, and Chris said "This building's #$%^ed up!!" and they all laughed.

Its not silly...Cleveland can easily be compared with NYC as I laid out in a previous message.

Sorry, columbus city proper might be larger than Cleveland, but its still a college town.    If ohio state wasn't located in Columbus, it would a smaller blip on the map than it already is!  ummmm  That's all!

I've got friends that live in Mason near butler-warren road - they avoid west chester like the plague they even drive all the way over to I71 to get back to I275 - I suggested they should consider bullet proofing their cars.

Hell, the whole thing:

St. Louis, MO is the only city I have ever visited and felt as though my personal safety was at risk just by walking around downtown after a Blues game.  The town is dirty. The biggest tourist attraction is a metal arch that looks like a giant frown, frowning on the dilapated cities on each side of the Mississppi.  Did I mention how trashy the town is?
