Cleveland: Hotel Development

^ from the looks of the render it sure looks like it would have something like that. and yeah it is very modern/brooklyn looking. a lot of people prefer these smaller boutique type hotels to other options, so i am sure it would do great. perfect moniker for it too!

Holy crap I love this design, it's something unique and also something you'd see in major metropolises, as long as it has street retail (coffee shop, bakery, etc.), I'm totally in!

They still don't have all their financing.

I don't have much information on this, hence no blog article, but I'm hearing that the Ohio Bell Building will be a Curio Collection by Hilton, not Hilton's Canopy brand. And I'm told that the property's sale should close next week. Hopefully this will bring some life to a pretty dead street (except during evening sporting events). Here's some photos I took of this Art Deco beauty yesterday...

What ever happened to the Ohio Bell Building on Huron. It was supposed to file in July and become a Curio Collection Hotel.

I'm kind of questioning it will actually happen when the hotel industry had a "so-so" year according to a recent Cleveland.com article. Occupancy was about 68% over last year.

That with a JW Marriott down the street would really create some amazing hotel options.

Except for the Hilton Convention Center and a few others, Marriott (and Sheraton subs) will pretty much own the downtown hotel market.

While the Ritz-Carlton is impressive, the addition of a JW Marriott will take the Cleveland hotel market to a whole different level.

^Was there an announcement for a JW?  Where will it be?

Possibly per KJP as part of the Centennial renovation.

For those w/out a subscription, the Walton family might be turning the Baker Building into a 21c Museum hotel.

Baker Building's buyer may be a big leaguer

A company named 1900 East 6th LLC that was formed in Ohio on March 13 may hold an intriguing connection to the mystery buyer and potential reuse of the Baker Building, which occupies that address in downtown Cleveland.

The same name was used on Jan. 27 to buy the 1919 vintage structure on resurgent East Sixth Street for $1.8 million from the prior owner, real estate investor and educator J. Scott Scheele, who held it through the Diamond Investment Group Building LLC. That's the word according to the deed in Cuyahoga County records.

Baker Building may become boutique hotel -- eventually

The 11-story Baker Building at 1900 E. 6th St. in downtown Cleveland enjoys a brighter future now that it's in the hands of a deep-pocketed firm. But that future may not be imminent. However, the delay has nothing to do with the global pandemic, according to a source familiar with the project.

Instead, the Walton Enterprises of Walmart fame which bought the Class C office building usually acquires and sits on older, sometimes distressed buildings before renovating them, said the source who was not authorized to speak publicly on the project.

Updated the article with an unhelpful comment from the Walton family.

Now the question is where.. hmmm. The old Landmark building?

The Rockefeller building would make for an amazing hotel conversion. Not to mention being directly across the street from SHW. Would be nice to have more hotels in the Warehouse District.

Something good is on ths horizon;  it just won't be a hotel. It's a beautiful building. My mom used to work there for the State of Ohio.
