The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion

Recommended Posts

I think that co-champion thing is B.S.... both teams have 1 conference loss... but Penn State beat Ohio State in head-to-head action... therefore, I refuse to consider OSU as a "co-champion" of the conference.

true, but until we have a conference championship game we have to live with stuff like "Co-Champions"  PSU's victory over OSU got them the automatic BCS bowl bid.  If PSU wanted to be the sole Big Ten Champs they should have beat Michigan  :-D  When OSU won the national championship in 2002 we were only the Co-Champs of the Big Ten with Iowa even though we had a perfect record (Iowa lost one non-conference game, but won all their Big Ten games).

Penn State could've beat Michigan even Michigan didn't cheat and get an extra 2 seconds put on the clock at the end of the game resulting in just enough time for them to win the game.  Michigan always gets the officiating breaks!

In the Big 10... we hate OSU the most... Michigan would be a close 2nd.  We hate OSU because they are seen as the antithesis of PSU... brash, cocky, arrogant, low graduation rate.... and they're always good.  Michigan is also hated because they keep beating us.  Penn Staters really don't have much animosity for the rest of the league... it's kind of hard to get excited about distant places like Minnesota and Northwestern.

Penn State had a lot of awesome rivalries in the pre- Big 10 days... which have unfortunately been lost.

Pitt has always been our biggest rival... but due to Penn State's stupidity... that series is on hold indefinately.

I'd love to see West Virginia University join the Big Ten.  I think PSU and WVU wold be a good little rivalry since Morgantown is close to PA.  BTW, did you know that Joe Pa in Russian means bullshit?  It's spelled differently of course, but my Russian co-worker always gets a kick out of hearing the sports commentator say Joe Pa on TV, lol.

WAHOO!!

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Troy Smith outplayed Brady Quinn and Jim Tressel outfoxed Charlie Weis.  Fourth-ranked Ohio State jumped on No. 5 Notre Dame with big play after big play Monday night in a 34-20 Fiesta romp, sending the Irish to their eighth consecutive bowl defeat.

"I been hearing a lot about how are you guys going to beat a Notre Dame team when you give Charlie Weis four weeks to prepare for it," Buckeyes senior linebacker A.J. Hawk said.  "That kind of upset me because I thought, 'What about giving coach Tressel four weeks to prepare for you?''  So make it four straight bowl wins for the Buckeyes, three of them at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

These are my favorite two teams.  It was an odd feeling.  I am glad that OSU won.  They were expected to have a good year. No one expected ND to do what they did this year.  Next year should be even better for both teams.

  :-( :-(

Two of my uncles, two of my cousins, and my sister are all ND grads and my brother is currently a senior there, so I think I would be disowned if I would want OSU to win.  My brother just got back from the game today and said that other than the outcome, it was a great game and experience.

Booster’s gaming ties get him on OSU’s ‘list’

Athletes told to avoid contact with 25 people

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State University has warned its athletes to stay away from a Columbus businessman with a Web site tied to gambling.  The businessman, Bernie Fernandez Jr., is under scrutiny in a gambling investigation by the Franklin County sheriff’s office.  Heather Lyke Catalano, OSU’s compliance officer, told a sheriff’s investigator in an April 2004 e-mail that she was worried about Fernandez because "we have student athletes working for Bernie and need to cease that relationship."  She has since placed Fernandez on a "watch list" of people student athletes should avoid.

And shouldn't it be TOSU, since they're insistent that the university's name begin with "The"?

Ugh.  As I suspected, Nike is behind this.  I am no blind Nike basher but they are behind virtually every awful trend in uniform design you see.  The Oregon Ducks?  Nike.  The Olympic hockey jerseys?  Nike.  The list goes on.

That is just plain bad

I guess Nike figured every Buckeye fan already had a football jersey, so to sell more they went with a "new" jersey

Screw Nike

I am not sure but I think Campus Partners was behind this

A).  Hail to the whaaa?  The university that got its mascot/name (Wolverine) from angry Toledoans?

B).  LLOYD CARR??!!  That old, crazy baffoon!??!  He's like the Wicked Witch of the North...minus the Goth motif.

Wolverines aren't rodents, they're weasels!  (hate to defend that school up north, but I have a ferret, which is in the same family as the wolverine, and I get tired of people calling him a rodent!  :whip: )
