  1. I was there around 2:00 yesterday (Sunday) for about two hours and it was crowded. Chairs were almost all taken. It was still comfortable. Not too crowded. Very diverse crowd as well.
  2. I'm heading to the poll tomorrow and am trying to decide who to vote for. Who is more likely to be able to defeat cranley?
  3. Why would they resurface and repaint the lot right before starting construction?
  4. I realize that financially this might not be fiesable, but I'd love to see it go on one of the caps. Those have I think 4 story height limits anyways so we won't get great density out of those spaces.
  5. I heard from someone who lives near the site that it is going to be a test kitchen. They made no mention of a grocery store.
  6. What would be awesome is if they put a roof on the garage findlay could do planter gardening on top The more likely dream would be if they did a terrace garden for the residents. Probably not financially feasible, but it would be nice to look at that as opposed to a parking lot out of your new apartment window.
  7. Does it bother anyone else that they put the transformer next to the sidewalk on Liberty? Also would love to see some town homes fronting the garage on Logan like they've done with Mercer.
  8. They should have put the Casino in the Terrace Plaza. That would have been the perfect use for the windowless portion plus there is already a hotel integrated right into the building.
  9. This might be a stupid idea or completely unrealistic, but what are the odds of us getting Mann and Flynn out to Portland while the study is being done? I'm sure we could raise enough money so that it doesn't come at the expense of tax dollars.
  10. What is the best way to get letters to Flynn and Mann?
  11. From the Kansas City Star: "Estimates suggest All-Star Week generates anywhere from $60 million to $90 million in revenue for the host city along with harder-to-measure benefits in terms of worldwide publicity, civic pride and general good will." http://www.kansascity.com/2012/07/02/3688078/seligs-promise-of-an-all-star.html
  12. From what I understand CORE is moving into the Color Building, and they are also the contractor rehabbing it.
  13. It turned out great. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. We ended up using CDF to finance the construction. They were great to work with, and I'd recommend them to anyone.
  14. I gathered up a group 8 of my friends to go to Lavomatic on Wednesday night for restaurant week. The earliest reservation we could get was 8:00. I thought that's great they are doing so well. We were seated on the rooftop by request, and ordered drinks right away. It took 30 minutes until we got our drinks. This was irritating to me due to the fact that I brought everyone there, but everyone seemed okay at this point. After we got our first round of drinks we decided we better order right dinner right away. I had the mac and cheese, the shrimp and chicken pasta and ordered one of the two deserts they had left. We finished or drinks and nobody came to check on us for probably 20 minutes when our appetizers came. We ordered another round of drinks that were slow to come out. The Mac and Cheese was bland and only had two small slivers of bacon in it. Dinner took a long time to come out, and when it did they only brought half of the tables, and one of my friend's salmon was closer to raw than medium rare. You could tell that the dinners were sitting under the heat lamp for a while. The pasta was okay, but nothing I couldn’t have done myself When the waitress came bring out deserts she said that the chief had whipped up some of the other desserts and we would be getting samplers. That sounded great, and I figured it was their way of apologizing for the slow service. When they came out it was one strawberry with whipped cream, a quarter of a cookie, and a tiny scoop of mousse. The desert was good, but very small, and none of us got any of the desserts that we ordered. The table of two next to us got the pie that we had all ordered and it looked a hell of a lot better than what we got. All said and done it took 2 hours and 15 minutes, and everyone left saying they would never come back. I was very disappointed and embarrassed that I had recommended it. Hopefully we just had a waitress that had too many tables, but it’s too expensive for me to keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. I've been there 7 times and never been impressed since Jean Robert left. After reading all the reviews after the renovation I thought they had turned the corner, but I think they still have a long way to go.
