  1. These are so good. How did I miss this thread!
  2. It's possible they did a layer of rigid insulation on top of the boards you see then the roof layers on that. I would hope so anyway. That is standard insulation method for structures like timber-frame where you want structure and planking exposed.
  3. It's the original location of the German Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Cincinnati. Which then built and moved into the Germania Building.
  4. Yeah, we don't have that word in Dayton. We just call it by whatever ice cream place it's from. The best creamy whip in Hamilton is Flubs. And they now have more than one location.
  5. I think places like Columbia Township are ridiculous. The various parts should be annexed to Cincinnati or other adj. municipalities. It already shares some benefits of village of Fairfax and a Fire/EMS district with Newtown I think.
  6. I was just at Pins in downtown Columbus last weekend. We had a great time. Great crowd, the architecture/interiors were well done, lots of beer options ...
  7. We tried to ride on Connector about 1:45 pm on Saturday from Washington Park heading to Findlay. An empty car went by and said out of service. A bunch of people were on platform waiting. I tweeted to see if I could get a reason and never got a response. We then walked to Findlay. Not a problem but had friends visiting from out of town so a little disappointing. We then did ride from Rhinegeist back to Washington Park later that afternoon at around 3:00 and it was packed, shoulder to shoulder. The arrival times were posted when we started waiting at platform but then went blank and eventually a car came. Again, love seeing it used but I hope people's experiences with waits or packed cars isn't discouraging people.
  8. My experience over the weekend was in streetcar approaching 12th & Vine and we were close to platform but couldn't get all the way to station because a line of cars. Then when we finally let passengers off and on, we pulled ahead and then we got stopped by a red light. Probably unavoidable to some degree but I was wondering why it was taking so long and then figured out the deal.
  9. I'd love to come see the place ... however I am on vacation that week and will be in Milwaukee.
  10. I'm sorry but the GE building and the one next to it are so bland. Good looking? Personally, I do not think so.
  11. One of my favorite buildings in Walnut Hills was this apartment complex one, right next to Kroger, with these fantastic faces on it. Sadly it is now a grassy lot and I don't remember any fights to save it. (Sorry, I can't get the embed to work!)
  12. If memory serves, the middle support for that walkway extends down thru the subway tunnel below. I had a picture of it from inside at one time. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.108467,-84.5197202,3a,52.6y,345.47h,88.63t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1ssihhSD5ncOOFqODZhmjEYA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DsihhSD5ncOOFqODZhmjEYA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D308.70224%26pitch%3D0!7i13312!8i6656
