Second Annual Bier Markt Ohio City Run & Crawl Set for June 16
Runners throughout greater Cleveland will be pleased to know that last year's most unique urban running event returns to the area's summer race calendar.
On Saturday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m., the second annual Bier Markt Ohio City Run & Crawl, presented by Lutheran Hospital, winds its way through the streets of Cleveland's historic Ohio City neighborhood, starting with a 5K run and followed by a pub and restaurant crawl featuring dozens of local establishments.
Last year's inaugural event drew more than 400 runners—some in costumes, some serious about winning—taking in the sights, sounds and suds of Ohio City. This year will feature more Ohio City establishments offering specials for participating runners, live music in Market Square Park, post-race refreshments, a goody bag for runners, a short-sleeved race t-shirt, and awards for the top finishers in various age groups and categories. Also new this year is a kick-off party from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Bier Markt, 1948 West 25th Street.
Pre-registration for the run—which must be received by Hermes Sports & Events by Wednesday, June 13—is $20; registration on the day of the race is $25 and begins at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Market Avenue and West 25th Street. Checks for preregistration should be made payable to Hermes, 1624 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, 44114. Runners seeking more information on the event should contact Hermes at 216.623.9933 (www.hermescleveland.com) or Ohio City Near West (OCNW) Development Corporation at 216.781.3222.
All proceeds from the Bier Markt Ohio City Run & Crawl—which this year also is sponsored by Franklin Plaza Nursing Home and Dick’s Sporting Goods—benefit OCNW’s ongoing efforts to further Ohio City’s renaissance.
