    The Trump Presidency

^ I said I wasn't surprised he was arrested for it, as always I'll reserve passing any judgement on whether or not he's guilty of any wrongdoing. That's a big difference between someone like me and someone who insists a person like Kavanaugh did something wrong.

    Cincinnati: Findlay Market

Before it was converted into a parking garage, the one part of Tower Place Mall that was still successful was the basement food court. It was packed for lunch almost every day.

On a scale of 1-10, how surprised is everyone that the newly progressive, infamous, disgraced Trump-hater Avenatti was arrested for beating up a woman? I'm a 1.
  4. ^ It's a shame the game is at UCF - College Gameday will be there and it will be one of the first big AAC games on prime time network TV. It would have been great to have that all at Nippert. It should be a good game - UCF has a good offense and UC has a great defense (top 10 in scoring and total defense), while UCF has a mediocre defense and UC has a mediocre offense.

Trump has that same grin on his face 90% of the time - at least, he does at every rally I've ever been to. Anyway, in that picture, it's Merkel's face I'm most curious about. Macron looks like a deer in headlights (his patented look - rivaled only by Trudeau), but Merkel looks like she's actually thinking about something, but not really something bad - I wonder what it is? That photo also conveniently cropped out Macron's elderly wife - a lady whose face adds yet another layer of depth to the photo:

^ I've watched every episode from day 1 - and most seasons two or three times as it's a show I'll always put on in the background or when I can't find anything else to watch. Aside from the literal "jumping the shark" episode - I can't say I've ever seen a show jump the shark like that before.

    Terrorism / Mass Shootings

^ I'm not the one who posted about gun control in the immediate wake of a tragedy. It's funny that I'm the one you choose to attack instead of the poster I was replying to. More concern for attacking Constitutional rights than the people who were gunned down this week. To quote the man who is your president - "sad." Also, I want to point out that none of the new far-left heralded regulations in Washington would have stopped the recent mass shooting.

Yet Another Reason to Love Fox News...

Because it hit home. They don't want angry mobs showing up at their doors. When mobs confront politicians and their staff in public, the media doesn't care much. Hopefully it's a turning point in how the media has been covering confrontations like this one.

Yet Another Reason to Love Fox News...

The same folks purportedly protesting facism and Trump's attempts to silence the media are... utilizing fascist techniques to try to threaten and silence the media: 'They were threatening me and my family': Tucker Carlson's home targeted by protesters https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/They-were-threatening-me-and-my-family-Tucker-13373987.php
  10. ^ Blue Jay is also prominently featured in Killing of a Sacred Deer - my favorite of the recent Cincinnati movies. I felt the same way about that movie - I was familiar with pretty much every setting. I'll have to watch The Old Man and the Gun when I get a chance.

I wouldn't be surprised to see many (most?) of their regulations end up in the Supreme Court. Among the most questionably constitutional portions: The overly broad inclusion of any and all "semiautomatic rifles." The fact that the "enhanced background check" requires a buyer to waive medical privacy rights and allow the government to access all private medical files. This check is in addition to federally mandated background checks that are already performed (NICS). It also comes with a $25 fee - or, rather, a $25 regressive tax. Most importantly, the portions that regulate how gun owners must store their possessions in their own homes.
  12. ^ There's that bun window that opened up too - I think we're seeing a broader dough stuffed with stuff wave. We'll have to wait and see if the ephemeral semi-Eli's related dumpling place tried to make a comeback.

    The Trump Presidency

"President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration. We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable. It is also completely disrespectful to the reporter’s colleagues not to allow them an opportunity to ask a question. President Trump has given the press more access than any President in history. Contrary to CNN’s assertions there is no greater demonstration of the President’s support for a free press than the event he held today. Only they would attack the President for not supporting a free press in the midst of him taking 68 questions from 35 different reporters over the course of 1.5 hours including several from the reporter in question. The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it‘s an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this Administration As a result of today’s incident, the White House is suspending the hard pass of the reporter involved until further notice." That's very arguably "less gerrymandered." I'd say it's just as bad, if not worse.

^ Chabot has been on the Foreign Affairs committee for a long time. He chairs the subcommittee on the Middle East. He has significant support within Cincinnati's Asian (south and east) minority community for his work to encourage cooperation between America and Asian nations. (On a related note, this is probably one of the reasons Aftab was chosen by the Dems - to appeal to identity politics and chip away at that support). To suggest that he is somehow racist and/or xenophobic is beyond absurd. It's simply uninformed and ignorant.
